Ca Mau sets a target for aquaculture production to reach 570,000 tons/year by 2030

Ca Mau province has set a target for total aquaculture production to reach 570,000 tons by 2030, the growth rate of aquaculture output to reach an average of 3.93%/year.

To accomplish this, Ca Mau will leverage its potentials and advantages to develop effective and sustainable aquaculture, aligning with the province's unique characteristics while proactively adapting to climate change. The province will prioritize research and the application of science and technology to enhance productivity, quality, value, and competitiveness. These efforts are aimed at meeting the demands of both domestic and export markets.

By 2025, Ca Mau aims to reach a total aquaculture production of 470,00 tons, with an average annual growth rate of 2.15%. Additionally, Ca Mau plans to actively produce and supply over 60% of the demand for shrimp seed (black tiger shrimp, vannamei shrimp) and 90% of the demand for crab seed. Moreover, the province intends to cultivate a diverse range of aquatic species with high economic value and generate a substantial volume of commodity products.

In order to meet the production requirements in over 70% of concentrated aquaculture areas, Ca Mau province plans to invest in and upgrade essential focal infrastructure. This investment aims to establish a robust production and consumption chain for over 40% of aquaculture products. Additionally, Ca Mau province aims to achieve organic, ecological, and other international certifications for approximately 30,000 hectares of shrimp-forest and shrimp-rice cultivation.

To further develop the area of super-intensive shrimp farming, Ca Mau province plans to allocate around 5,000 hectares for this purpose. Furthermore, the province aims to enhance extensive shrimp farming by expanding the improved farming area to cover 200,000 hectares. The rearrangement of aquaculture activities at sea will be carried out in accordance with natural conditions, enabling effective exploitation of the marine economic potential.

By 2030, Ca Mau province aims to achieve a total aquaculture production of 570,000 tons, with an average annual growth rate of 3.93%. The province plans to proactively produce and supply over 75% of the demand for shrimp seed (black tiger shrimp, vannamei shrimp) and meet 100% of the demand for quality crab seed. Additionally, Ca Mau aims to cultivate a diverse range of aquatic species with high economic value and generate a significant volume of commodity products.

To support these goals, Ca Mau province will invest in and upgrade essential infrastructure to meet production requirements in over 80% of concentrated aquaculture areas. The province will establish a chain of production and consumption that covers over 60% of aquaculture products. Moreover, Ca Mau province will strive to obtain organic, ecological, and other international certifications for approximately 50,000 hectares of shrimp-forest and shrimp-rice cultivation.

To further advance aquaculture practices, Ca Mau province plans to develop a super-intensive shrimp farming area spanning about 8,000 hectares. The province also aims to expand the improved extensive shrimp farming area to cover 250,000 hectares. Additionally, Ca Mau province will invest in infrastructure to expand commercial aquaculture at sea, focusing on objects of large-scale economic value and aiming for concentration. The province will also prioritize research and development efforts to breed new high-value seafood species that are suitable for the local sea conditions.

Total capital to implement the plan is more than 2,730 billion VND. In which, the central budget capital accounts for 34.71%; local capital accounted for 1.54%; Other capital sources (ODA, enterprises) accounted for 63.74%.
